  • Mentorship? You’ll work with each of our veterinarians to learn different approaches and get all your questions answered.
  • Diverse experiences? We see small animals, reptiles, small mammals, and birds!
  • Housing? We have that available.
  • A stipend? Yes, we’ll pay you for your work (for students currently enrolled in a DVM program)

What Our Externs Say

My time at the Animal Hospital of Ovilla made me feel well-rounded and more prepared for real-world veterinary medicine. I gained hands-on experience with surgeries, exotic animals, dogs and cats, and client communication. The team at this clinic loves to teach and supports students with ample learning opportunities!

Madison, Texas A&M University

Animal Hospital of Ovilla gave me my first experiences with exotic species, as well as a thorough workup of small animal cases and hands-on surgery experience. I would recommend this externship to anyone looking to enhance their small-animal experience or gain confidence working with exotics.

Lauryn, Ross University

I felt an instant sense of camaraderie and support from the doctors, technicians, and other staff members. I left the externship experience feeling more confident in my technical and communication skills and cannot recommend the hospital enough to clinical students seeking a fun and educational experience!
